Some Frequently Asked Questions about our digital services

Q: What types of media do you accept?
A: We accept CDs, DVDs, Compact Flash Cards, USB Flash Drives, and Smart Media Cards.

Q: Can I e-mail you a file for output to prints or film?
A: You can, but most mail servers limit file size attachments to 2MB or less. We have a very easy to use FTP application that you can use to upload a file. See here for more information.

Q: Why do I see you using PPI on your web site and in your price brochure, instead of DPI?
A: PPI (Pixels Per Inch) is what digital image files contain; pixels are square. DPI (Dots Per Inch) is what a printer puts down ; generally diffused round dots.

Q: What size print can I make from my digital camera?
A: Good thing you asked, because we have a handy chart here (PDF).

Q: There is so much information out there concerning how to expose correctly using a digital camera. Is there any helpful info you can recommend?
A: This article by Peter Marshall might help.

Q: How should I store my CDs or DVDs?
A: When you receive CDs or DVDs from us, keep them in a cool, dark, dry place without excessive humidity or direct sunlight in archival sleeves meant for long-term storage. Use only ink approved for writing on unlabeled CD-R or DVD-R media to label your disks, or only label their sleeves. For optimum longevity of your files, it is best to transfer your archives to new disks after a number of years. It is also advised to make a duplicate copy of your CDs or DVDs and store off-site at a secure location.
